Pets of the Homeless (POTH) Australia provides food, veterinary care and other support to pet owners in need. We help people who are at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness by making sure their companion pets are well looked after.

The companionship and therapeutic value of pets is immeasurable. That’s why we’re firm believers that the more we can do for animals, the greater their human’s chances of improving their situation over time. They can assist with mental health and self-esteem which can only have a positive flow-on effect in the long run. Pets also aid with community engagement. They inspire conversation and help the broader community understand that people who are homeless are not less deserving of love and care than anyone else.

Pets of the Homeless provides food, veterinary care and other support to the pets of people experiencing or facing homelessness. We believe in keeping pets and humans together through difficult times.

We provide this support in a judgement-free environment so that every person experiencing or facing homelessness can feel supported in their actions to care for and stay with their pet. In doing so, we are committed to:

  • Keeping people united with the companion that provides company, protection and unconditional love.
  • Reducing the number of healthy pets that are surrendered to shelters and euthanised due to financial hardship.

Pets of the Homeless Australia is 95% community funded. Your tax-deductible donation will help keep people and their pets together – preventing hunger, suffering, abandonment, surrender and loss of the animals they love. Click here to donate today.
