History
Developed in australia in the late 90’s from the Burmilla Breeding Program. Enthusiasts decided to develop this breed separately from the Burmilla longhair by breeding back to the Chinchilla Persian. The Australian Tiffanie is a semi-longhair cat with a silky tipped or shaded coat in silver or golden, and their temperament is sweet and gentle. A medium sized cat, substantial in body and bone.
Description
The Australian Tiffanie also has a broader head than the Burmilla, and a more compact body. It is a medium-sized cat with a silky, soft coat.
Grooming and Physical Needs
Size: Medium-sized cat.
- Grooming Needs: Australian Tiffanies require a quick groom about three times per week.
- Coat Type: Semi-long haired silky & soft coat.
- Moulting: Two seasonal moults per year, at the end of summer and winter.
- Exercise Needs: Australian Tiffanies do not require a lot of space or exercise. Normal indoor activity is sufficient. In fact, they are most happy when indoors with their owners.
- Average Life Span: Up to 17 years
- Healthcare: No known specific health conditions.
Behaviour
- Family: A good match for families being a friendly and placid cat.
- Temperament: Friendly and placid.
- Trainability: No specific trainable or trick traits.
- Sociability (Other Pets): They cope well with apartment living and solitary life but also enjoy the companionship of other animals and their owners.
- Meowing: At most will greet you with a quiet meow.
