History
The first breed to be developed exclusively in Australia from Burmese, Abyssinian and Domestic Shorthair ancestry. First recognised for championship status 1986 and is now recognised by all WCF affiliates. Description
These beautifully ticked kitties are amongst the most moderate breeds with nothing extreme about their appearance, personality or care requirements, though they are very loving!
Grooming and Physical Needs
Size: They are of moderate size, medium boned, rounded of head, with large eyes and ears.
- Grooming Needs: The Mist's short coats don't need much maintenance. A quick brush once a week is usually enough
- Coat Type: Short, flat and soft. They have either a spotted or marbled coat, although both patterns have spotted tummies.
- Moulting: Shorthaired, so little to moderate shedding.
- Exercise Needs: They're playful and often persuade their owners to play fetch, this should be enough to keep them fit and healthy.
- Average Life Span: 16-18 years
- Healthcare: No known specific health issues associated with this breed.
Behaviour
- Family: They make wonderful pets and are suitable for families with young children, people living on their own, and the elderly and disabled.
- Temperament: Affectionate, intelligent, inquisitive and adaptable .
- Trainability: Easy to house train and love to play fetch.
- Sociability (Other Pets): Fine to live with other pets.
- Meowing: Strong character often happy and loud purring but otherwise relatively quiet.
